Ankara is the capital city of Turkey and the second largest city in the country after Istanbul. It is located at the heart of both Turkey and Central Anatolia

  Ankara's economy has a very rich content such as agriculture, livestock, mining, industry and transport

Agriculture 

Agriculture in Ankara is mostly based on crops. It is Turkey's second largest grain warehouse after Konya. Apart from wheat, oats, barley, legumes, industrial plants, sugar beets, tubers, vegetable and fruit varieties,potatoes are grown quite a lot.

                                           

Livestock

Ankara is an important city in terms of livestock.  'Ankara Goat', also called the Mohair goat is famous. 

Poultry farming also occupies an important place. 

Ankara's honey is also very famous and its production is high.

Mining

Ankara is not considered very rich in mines. Despite this, there are some mines such as lignite, iron, gypsum, marble.

Industry

It is one of the leading centers of our country in terms of industry and trade.It is highly developed in  industry, manufacturing and food branch.The city has been connected to the 'Enterkonnekte' energy system since 1956. In Ankara there are many important defense industries such as Havelsan, Aselsan, TUSAS. The first defense industry factory Aselsan was established in Ankara in 1975.

Transport

It is a very important crossroads in terms of land, air and railway. Edirne-Hatay (E-5) highway and İzmir-Ağrı (E-23) highway pass through Ankara.
